Con la conclusione del Wacken Open Air 2025, caratterizzato da più “Rain” che “Shine”, l’organizzazione del festival metal più celebre al mondo ha subito guardato al futuro annunciando i primi 35 artisti confermati per l’edizione del 2026, che celebrerà il 35° anniversario della manifestazione.
Tra i primi nomi spiccano Def Leppard, icone dell’hard rock melodico provenienti da Sheffield, che torneranno sul “Holy Ground” di Wacken. A loro fianco ci saranno i pionieri svedesi del melodic death metal In Flames, i maestri del power metal teatrale Powerwolf, e i leggendari Savatage, simbolo del connubio tra power e progressive metal, noti per album come “Hall of the Mountain King”, “Gutter Ballet” e “Streets: A Rock Opera”.
Il programma include anche show speciali ed esclusivi, tra cui l’unica esibizione tedesca del tributo Blood Fire Death – A Tribute to Bathory, l’ultimo concerto festival in Germania dei Sepultura, e un set Best Of + “As the Shadows Rise” con la formazione originale degli Emperor. Tra gli altri nomi già confermati, anche Europe, Running Wild, Lamb of God, Pig Destroyer, Future Palace e The Gathering (anch’essi con l’unica data in Germania nel 2026).
